What Are We Fishing for?

Red Fish

Red fish are often found in the shallow grasses that are found around the shallow flats throughout Tampa Bay. As the weather cools down in the fall time, red fish can be spotted congregating in large groups known as “schools”. Redfish are considered Florida’s top sportfish.

Trout

Seatrout live in coastal waters that have sandy bottoms. Trout are typically found to have dark gray or green backs, with black spots that go from their tails, up to their dorsal fins. Many people enjoy trout due to its mild flavor and flaky texture.

Snook

Snook fishing is a great way to “get your feet wet”. Some snook fishing trips can yield as many as 100 snook at a time. They are most frequently found in the mangroves along coastlines and creeks, and can reach up to 48” long!

Snapper

If you have never fished for Snapper before, you are in for a treat. Snapper can reach a weight of over 30 lbs! They inhabit fishing reefs that range anywhere from 30 to 300 feet deep, and are known to venture out the most in the cover of night.

Grouper

Grouper are a fun fish species to fish for. They are strong and fighters, and will definitely put up a fight. Grouper are bottom dwellers who hide in holes, rocks, caves, etc. Their habitat is intentional so that they can ambush their prey at any given moment. This is one reason that live bait is a great choice when fishing for grouper.

Tarpon

Tarpon are arguably one of the most popular sports fishes around the world and their draw to anglers is undeniable. Drawing fishermen from far and wide, the tarpon inhabiting the waters of Florida are particularly sought - after due to their slippery silver skin and ability to put up a fierce fight during sports fishing.
